     Prayer meeting

                   

                        Every week two prayer meetings are conducted in the parish member's houses. One is named as "St.Mary's prayer meeting" and other is "St.Gregorios prayer meeting". St.Mary's prayer meeting will be conducted on every Sunday at 2.00 PM and St.Gregorios prayer meeting at 7:00 PM on Tuesdays. Vicar and Parish mission students from Orthodox theological seminary are leading the prayer meetings. These prayer meetings are helpful to the parish members for their spiritual and social development.

    St.George Sunday School

     

                        St.George Sunday School Areeparampu was established in 1935 as a subsidiary Sunday school of Vadakkanmannoor St.Thomas church. This Sunday school has a glorious history and was selected for the prestigious position as model Sunday school in Kottayam diocese.
                       It was this Sunday school led to the establishment of a parish at this part of Areeparampu in the name of St.George.
                      Sunday school classes are conducted on every Sunday after the Holy Qurbana in the Sunday school hall classes are conducted from Std. I to Std. XII. The Sunday school is affiliated to the ' Malankara Orthodox Syrian Sunday School' under Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. A wide variety of cultural activities are also conducted by the Sunday school for the spiritual development of the children and they have won many laurels in the competitive exams and cultural competitions.

    Martha Mariam Samajam

     

                      Women members of the parish are members of the ' Martha Mariam Samajam'. The Samajam meetings are regularly conducted on every Sunday after the Holy Qurbana. Bible classes are taken by the Vicar and students of Sunday mission from Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam. On every Friday they also conduct a fasting prayer in the church. On Wednesdays the members visit the houses of those who suffer from diseases and pray for them. Every year the Samajam collect rice and money which is given to the orphanage at Pothenpuram adjacent to Pampady Dayara.

    Orthodox Youth Movement

     

                     St.George youth league, a unit of the Orthodox Syrian Youth Movement started its activities in 1967. It plays a key role in the all round development of the parish by organizing and extending help in the multidimensional activities where the youth league plays a lead role are:

  • Parish day celebrations
  • Conduction of feasts and festivals
  • Tin collection
  • Christmas Eve celebrations
  • Printing of the parish directory
  • Printing of the "Thirunaama keerthanam" which consists of daily prayers and
        selected songs
  • Support to the construction activities of the parish
  • Conduction of pilgrimages and tours
                                A parish library which is named as Mar Gregorios Memorial (MGM) library is maintained and managed by the youth league. The library is having a large number of religious books and book of moral education and plays an important role in the developing reading habit in children and youth in the parish.
    The youth league meets on every Saturday in the church after the evening prayer. Special meetings are sometimes conducted on Sundays after the Holy Qurbana if found necessary.
